Whether you are setting up a local network or troubleshooting a network problem, viewing the IP address of your local computer is a common operation. In this article, we will introduce several common ways to view the IP address of the local computer to help you easily access the computer's network information.

1. Use the Command Prompt to Query IP Address

Command Prompt is a very useful tool in Windows to quickly view system information, including the IP address of the local computer. Here are the steps to do it:

Press Win + R, type "cmd" and enter to open the Command Prompt.

In the Command Prompt window, type the 'ipconfig' command and press Enter.

After executing the command, a lot of network adapter information will be displayed on the screen. Find the 'IPv4 address' under 'Ethernet adapter' (if you're on a wired connection) or 'Wireless LAN adapter' (if you're on a Wi-Fi connection). The IPv4 address shown here is your local IP address.

2. Viewing IP Address in Network Settings

Another way to check the IP address of your computer is through the "Network and Sharing Center" of Windows. This method is suitable for those users who are not used to using the command prompt.

Find the network icon on the taskbar and click on it (the Wi-Fi icon if you have a Wi-Fi connection or the network icon if you have a wired connection).

In the pop-up menu, select "Open Network and Internet Settings".

In the window that opens, click "Network and Sharing Center".

On the Network and Sharing Center screen, click on the network you are currently connected to (e.g. Ethernet).

In the status pop-up window, click the "Details" button.

In the "Network Connection Details" pop-up window, you can find the "IPv4 Address", which is your local IP.

Driver Update Tip: If you find that you can't connect to the network through this method, or the IP address shows "0.0.0.0", then it is very likely that there is a problem with the network adapter driver. At this point, you can go to Driver Sentry to check if the wireless card driver is normal or try to update the driver.

Download

Click the download button to get the latest version of Driver Sentry, then open the software after installation and click "Scan".

After scanning, it will display any missing or outdated drivers. Find the wireless adapter driver in the list and click the "Upgrade" button.

After updating, restart your computer to ensure the updated driver works properly.

3. Check IP Address Through Router

If you are connected to a local area network (LAN) and are using a wireless or wired router, you can usually view the IP address of the machine through the router's management interface. This method is applicable when you want to view the IP addresses of all connected devices on the router.

Open a browser and enter the IP address of the router (usually 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1).

Enter the router's username and password.

After logging in, find "Device List" or "LAN Status" in the router's management interface, find your device in the list, and the IP address of the machine will be displayed next to it.
