6 Methods to Fix Bluetooth Speaker Not Working
When using Bluetooth speakers, you might face issues like connection failures, no sound, or poor audio quality. This article provides simple steps to fix these common problems and get your Bluetooth speaker working again.
Method 1: Update Bluetooth Drivers
Outdated Bluetooth drivers may cause your Bluetooth speaker to stop working. Make sure your device's Bluetooth drivers are up to date. It is recommended to use Driver Sentry to automatically detect and update drivers, saving you time and preventing the risk of downloading or installing incorrect drivers.
Click the download button to get the latest version of Driver Sentry. After installation, open the software and click "Scan".
After the scan is complete, it will show which drivers need to be installed or updated. Find the Bluetooth driver in the list, and click the "Update" button.
Once the update is complete, it is recommended to restart your computer to ensure the updated driver takes effect.
Method 2: Check Bluetooth Settings on Your Device
Click the Bluetooth icon in the lower-right corner of the taskbar, or go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Bluetooth & other devices".
Make sure Bluetooth is turned on. If the Bluetooth switch is greyed out or off, click to turn it on.
Find your Bluetooth speaker in the list of devices.
If it shows "Not connected" or "Pairing failed", manually click the device name to reconnect.
Check that your Bluetooth speaker is in pairing mode and visible to the device. If it's not visible, refer to the speaker's manual to enter pairing mode.
Method 3: Restart the Bluetooth Speaker
Press and hold the power button on the speaker until the device turns off. Most Bluetooth speakers will emit a sound or the indicator light will change to show the device is off.
Wait a few seconds, then press and hold the power button again to turn the speaker back on.
In the device's Bluetooth settings, turn off Bluetooth, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
Try reconnecting your Bluetooth speaker and see if it connects and plays audio properly.
Method 4: Check Speaker Battery and Volume Settings
Ensure that your Bluetooth speaker has sufficient battery. Most speakers have an indicator light that will blink or turn red when the battery is low.
Use the original charger to recharge the speaker. Avoid using the speaker while it is charging, and try connecting again once the battery is fully charged.
On your computer, make sure the media volume is not muted or set too low. After connecting the Bluetooth device, you can usually adjust the volume through a volume slider displayed on your computer.
Some speakers have physical volume buttons, ensure that the speaker volume is set to an appropriate level.
Method 5: Re-pair the Bluetooth Device
Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Bluetooth & other devices", find your speaker, and click "Remove device".
Turn off Bluetooth on your device, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on. Put the Bluetooth speaker into pairing mode by holding the power or pairing button for several seconds until it emits a sound or the light flashes.
In the Bluetooth settings, search for available Bluetooth devices again. Select your speaker to pair it.
Once paired, the device will display "Connected", and the speaker should be able to play audio normally.
Method 6: Test with Another Device
On a new device, go to the Bluetooth settings and turn on Bluetooth.
Ensure the speaker is in pairing mode. The speaker will appear in the Bluetooth device list, select the speaker and pair it. Once paired, test if the audio output works.
If the speaker works on the new device, the issue may lie with the original device's Bluetooth driver or settings.
If the speaker still does not work on other devices, it may indicate a hardware issue with the speaker, and you should contact the manufacturer or a repair service.
By following these methods, you can effectively resolve issues such as your Bluetooth speaker not connecting or not working. If the problem persists, it is recommended to contact a professional technician for further inspection.
