How to Fix Brother Printer Not Printing on Windows 10
Some Windows users may face issues with their Brother printer not working properly. This article offers solutions to help fix the problem and restore functionality.
1. Update Printer Drivers
Outdated or corrupted drivers are one of the most common causes of printer malfunctions. Updating the printer drivers usually resolves such issues. We recommend using Driver Sentry to automatically detect and update drivers, saving time and avoiding the risk of downloading or installing incorrect drivers.
Click the download button to get the latest version of Driver Sentry, and after installation, open the software and click "Scan".
Once the scan is complete, the list will show which drivers are missing or need updating. Find the printer driver and click the "Upgrade" button.
After updating, it is recommended to restart your computer to ensure the new drivers take effect.
2. Restart Devices
Turn off the printer, wait a few minutes, then power it back on.
Click the "Start" button, select "Power", and then click "Restart".
After restarting your computer, check if the printer resumes normal operation.
3. Check Printer Connections
Wired Connection:
Ensure the printer's USB cable is securely connected to the computer's USB port.
Try plugging the USB cable into another port to ensure a stable connection.
Wireless Connection:
Ensure the printer and the computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Check if the printer's wireless function is enabled and confirm there is no network disruption.
If using wireless printing, try reconnecting the printer to the network.
4. Restart Print Spooler Service
Press Win + R to open the Run window.
Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
In the list of services, find "Print Spooler", right-click it, and select "Restart".
If the Restart button is unavailable, select "Stop", then click "Start".
After restarting the Print Spooler service, try printing a document to see if the issue is resolved.
5. Clear Print Queue
Press Win + R to open the Run window, type "control printers", and press Enter.
Right-click on your printer icon and select "See what's printing".
In the print queue window, select all documents, then click "Cancel" or "Delete" to clear the print jobs.
Close the print queue window, then try printing the document again to check if the issue is resolved.
6. Repair Corrupted System Files
Press Win + X to open the shortcut menu, and select "Command Prompt (Admin)".
In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter: sfc /scannow
The system will begin scanning and repairing corrupted system files. This process may take some time.
After the scan is complete, restart your computer and check if the printer is functioning properly.
7. Run Printer Troubleshooter
Press Win + S to open the search box, type "Printer", then select "Printers & Scanners" and open it.
Scroll down and click "Run the troubleshooter".
The system will automatically begin scanning and detecting any printing-related issues and will provide repair options based on the scan results.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the repair process. If issues are found, the system will offer repair options, and you can select Apply this fix to resolve them.
