Many players experience the "red connection" issue while gaming, leading to high latency, lag, or disconnections. This disrupts gameplay and can cause lost progress. Here are some effective methods to fix the problem and improve your gaming experience.

1. Check Network Connection

First, ensure your network connection is stable. Check the status lights on your router and modem to ensure they're functioning properly.

Test other devices to see if they can connect to the internet. If they cannot, the issue may lie with your router or service provider.

For Wi-Fi users, try moving closer to the router to eliminate weak signal issues. If the problem persists, restart the router.

2. Update Network Drivers

Outdated or incorrect network drivers can lead to red connection issues while gaming, affecting gameplay smoothness and experience. Therefore, timely updating of network drivers is a crucial step in resolving such problems. We recommend using Driver Sentry to automatically detect and update drivers, saving time and effort while avoiding the risks of downloading or installing incorrect drivers.

Download

Click the download button to get the latest version of Driver Sentry. After installation, open the software and click "Scan".

Once the scan is complete, it will display any drivers that are missing or need updates. Find the network driver in the results list and click the "Update" button.

After the update is complete, it is advisable to restart your computer to ensure the updated drivers take effect properly.

3. Change DNS Server

Press "Win + R" to open the Run dialog, type "ncpa.cpl", and press Enter.

In the "Network Connections" window, right-click your active network connection and select "Properties".

Double-click "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)". Select "Use the following DNS server addresses", then enter:

  • Preferred DNS Server: 8.8.8.8

  • Alternate DNS Server: 8.8.4.4

4. Regularly Check Hardware

Regularly inspect your router and network cables for damage to ensure they are functioning correctly.

If possible, replace cables or use a different router to identify the problem source.

For wireless users, check that the wireless card in your computer is working properly. If there are issues, you may need to replace the wireless card or adjust the antenna position.

5. Close Background Applications

Open Task Manager (press "Ctrl + Shift + Esc"), switch to the "Processes" tab, and identify applications consuming a lot of network resources.

Right-click on bandwidth-heavy applications and select "End Task".

6. Contact Your Internet Service Provider

If you've tried all the above methods and the issue persists, it may be a problem with your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

Contact your ISP to describe the network issues you're facing; they can check for line problems or provide further technical support.

In some cases, they may send a technician to diagnose and fix the network issues on-site.
