How to Fix Windows 11 Screen Flickering Issue
Many Windows 11 users may experience screen flickering issues, which can significantly disrupt daily use. This guide offers several effective solutions to help you resolve this issue quickly.
1. Update Display Drivers
Outdated, corrupt, or incompatible drivers can often be the cause of screen flickering in Windows. Updating your graphics drivers can effectively prevent this issue. Using Driver Sentry is recommended, as it automatically detects and updates drivers, saving time and reducing the risk of installing incorrect drivers.
Click the download button to get the latest version of Driver Sentry, install, and open the software, then click "Scan".
Once the scan is complete, the tool will show which drivers are outdated or missing. Find the display driver in the list and click "Upgrade".
After updating, it's recommended to restart your computer to ensure the new driver works properly.
2. Adjust the Screen Refresh Rate
Right-click on an empty area of the desktop and select "Display settings".
Scroll down and click on "Advanced display settings".
In the "Display adapter properties", choose a refresh rate suitable for your monitor (usually 60Hz, 120Hz, or 144Hz), then click "Apply".
Confirm the refresh rate adjustment, then click "OK" to save changes.
3. Restart Windows Explorer
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
In the "Processes" tab, locate "Windows Explorer".
Right-click on "Windows Explorer" and select "Restart".
Windows Explorer will automatically restart, restoring system responsiveness.
4. Disable Hardware Acceleration
Press the Windows logo key + R to open the Run dialog.
Type "regedit" and click OK.
In the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Avalon.Graphics.
In the right pane under Avalon.Graphics, check for a key named DisableHWAcceleration.
If it exists, double-click it and change the "Value data" from 0 to 1, then click "OK" to save.
If it does not exist, right-click on the blank area, select "New" > "DWORD (32-bit) Value".
Rename the new file as DisableHWAcceleration. Double-click it, change the "Value data" to 1, and click "OK" to save.
Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
5. Repair System Files
In the taskbar search box, type "Command Prompt", right-click it, and select "Run as administrator".
In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and press Enter: sfc /scannow
The system will begin scanning and repairing corrupted files. Once complete, restart your computer.
6. Uninstall Incompatible Applications
Go to "Settings" > "Apps" > "Apps & features".
Find any application that may be causing the issue, click on it, and select "Uninstall".
Follow the prompts to complete the uninstallation. Afterward, restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.
7. Disable Animation Effects
Press Windows logo key + I to open Settings.
In the left menu, find and click on "Accessibility".
On the right side, click on "Visual effects".
Locate "Animation effects" and toggle it off.
Restart your computer to see if this resolves the screen flickering.
8. Check for System Updates
Open "Settings" > "Update & Security".
In the "Windows Update" section, click "Check for updates".
If updates are available, the system will automatically download and install them. Once complete, restart your computer to apply the updates.
These steps can help resolve various Windows issues, enhancing system stability and performance. If the problem persists, consider contacting a professional or Microsoft Support for further help.
