When using the Windows system, the issue of black screen freezes can often be frustrating. This article provides effective solutions to help you quickly fix this problem and restore normal use of your computer.

Method 1: Check Power and Connections

Check the power outlet by testing it with another device to ensure it is functioning properly.

Ensure that the power cable and adapter are securely connected, with no wear or damage. Check the display connection cables (such as HDMI, VGA, or DVI) to ensure they are firmly plugged in at both ends.

If using multiple monitors, select the correct input source (e.g., HDMI1, HDMI2). If possible, connect the computer to another monitor to rule out any display issues.

Method 2: Update Graphics Driver

Outdated graphics drivers can lead to black screen problems, so timely updates are crucial for stable system operation. It is recommended to use Driver Sentry to automatically detect and update drivers, saving time and reducing the risk of downloading or installing incorrect drivers.

Download

Click the download button to get the latest version of Driver Sentry. After installation, open the software and click "Scan".

click-scan

Once the scan is complete, it will display which drivers are missing or need updating. Find the graphics driver in the results list and click the "Update" button.

After the update is complete, it is advisable to restart the computer to ensure the updated drivers function correctly.

Method 3: Force Restart

Locate the power button on your computer, press and hold it for about 10 seconds until the computer completely shuts down.

After turning off the computer, wait 10-30 seconds to ensure all power is fully disconnected.

Press the power button again to start the computer and see if it can boot into the system normally.

Method 4: Manage Applications in Safe Mode

When starting the computer, repeatedly press F8 or Shift + F8 (the specific key may vary by computer) before the Windows logo appears to access the advanced startup options.

Select "Enable Safe Mode" and press Enter.

In Safe Mode, go to "Control Panel" > "Programs and Features", check for recently installed software, right-click on it, and select "Uninstall".

Method 5: Check for Hardware Issues

Shut down the computer and disconnect the power. Open the case, locate the RAM, gently remove it, and then reseat it to ensure good contact.

If using a dedicated graphics card, try removing it and connecting to the motherboard's integrated graphics to check if it displays normally.

Use a hard drive diagnostic tool to check the health of the hard drive and ensure there are no bad sectors or failures.

Method 6: System Restore

In the Windows search box, type "Restore" and select "Create a restore point" to enter the System Properties window.

Click "System Restore", choose a restore point, and follow the prompts to restore the system.
