Resolve Audio Delay Issues on Windows
Some Windows users may experience audio delay, affecting playback. This article offers practical solutions to resolve the issue and restore smooth audio.
1. Check Audio Drivers
Outdated or corrupted audio drivers can be one of the root causes of audio delay. Ensuring that your audio drivers are up to date can effectively solve the delay issue. It is recommended to use Driver Sentry to automatically detect and update drivers, saving time and effort while avoiding the risk of downloading or installing incorrect drivers.
Click the download button to get the latest version of Driver Sentry. After installation, open the software and click "Scan".
Once the scan is complete, it will show which drivers are not installed or need updating. Find the audio driver in the results list and click the "Upgrade" button.
After the update is complete, it is recommended to restart your computer to ensure the updated drivers work properly.
2. Disable Audio Enhancements
Right-click the volume icon in the bottom-right corner of the taskbar and select "Open Sound Settings".
In the "Input" section, select your audio device and click "Device Properties".
Go to the "Enhancements" tab and check the box to "Disable all sound effects".
Click "Apply", then click "OK".
Close the settings window and check if the audio delay issue is resolved.
3. Change Audio Format
Right-click the volume icon in the bottom-right corner of the taskbar and select "Open Sound Settings".
In the "Output" section, select your audio device and click "Device Properties".
Click the "Advanced" tab, and under "Default Format", try selecting a different audio format (e.g., 16-bit, 48000 Hz).
Click "Apply", then click "OK".
Test audio playback to see if it returns to normal and check if the delay has improved.
4. Close Background Applications
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
In the "Processes" tab, check the running applications.
Find and right-click unnecessary applications or processes, then select "End Task".
Try closing programs that consume a lot of CPU or memory, such as browsers, video players, etc.
After closing the background applications, restart audio playback and check if the audio delay issue is resolved.
5. Run Audio Troubleshooter
Press the Windows key + I to open Settings, then click "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot".
Click "Additional troubleshooters", find "Playing Audio", and click the "Run the Troubleshooter" button. The system will automatically scan and fix any audio issues.
Once complete, restart audio playback and check if the audio delay has improved.
6. Update the Operating System
Click the Start menu, then select "Settings".
In the Settings window, click "Update & Security".
Under the "Windows Update" tab, click "Check for Updates".
If updates are available, click "Download and Install".
Once the update is complete, restart your computer and check if the audio delay issue is resolved.
