How to Fix Rocket League Not Launching on Windows 10
Some Rocket League players may face launch issues on Windows 10. This article offers solutions to help fix the problem and restore smooth gameplay.
1. Update Drivers
Outdated or corrupted drivers may prevent Rocket League from running properly on Windows 10. Updating your graphics drivers is an essential step in addressing this issue. Using Driver Sentry to automatically detect and update drivers can save time and reduce the risk of downloading or installing incorrect drivers.
Click the download button to get the latest version of Driver Sentry. After installation, open the software and click "Scan".
The scan will show drivers that are missing or need updates. Locate the graphics driver in the results and click "Upgrade".
Restart your computer after completing the updates to ensure the drivers work effectively.
2. Verify Game File Integrity
Open the Steam client and log in to your account.
In the Library, locate Rocket League, right-click it, and select "Properties".
In the window that appears, go to the "Local Files" tab and click "Verify Integrity of Game Files".
Wait for Steam to complete the verification process. Steam will automatically repair any damaged or missing files.
Once completed, try relaunching Rocket League.
3. Disable Steam Overlay
Open the Steam client and log in to your account.
Click the Steam icon in the top left corner and select "Settings".
In the window that appears, navigate to the "In Game" tab on the left.
Uncheck the option "Enable the Steam Overlay while in-game".
Restart the game and check if this improves performance or resolves the launch issue.
4. Run the Game as Administrator
In the Steam client, locate Rocket League, right-click it, and select "Properties".
Under the "Local Files" tab, click "Browse Local Files".
Locate the file RocketLeague.exe, right-click it, and select "Run as Administrator".
Try launching the game to see if it runs correctly.
5. Disable Antivirus Software or Windows Firewall
Disable Antivirus Software:
Open your antivirus software and find the option to "Disable" or "Pause Protection".
After disabling the antivirus, try launching Rocket League to check if the issue is resolved.
Disable Windows Firewall:
Press Windows + R, type "control", and click OK to open the Control Panel.
Select Windows Defender Firewall and click "Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off".
Select "Turn off Windows Defender Firewall (not recommended)" for both private and public networks.
Restart Rocket League to see if the problem is resolved.
Note: Disabling antivirus software and the firewall temporarily reduces your system's security. Be sure to re-enable them after resolving the issue.
6. Reinstall Rocket League
Open the Steam client and locate Rocket League in your library.
Right-click the game and select "Uninstall".
Once uninstalled, restart your computer.
Reinstall Rocket League from Steam.
