Screen flickering is a common issue on Windows 11, causing irregular flashes or blackouts. This article offers solutions to help restore normal screen functionality.

1. Check for Graphics Driver Updates

Graphics drivers are critical components for screen display. Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause screen flickering issues. Updating or repairing the driver is an effective solution. Using Driver Sentry is recommended for automatic driver detection and updates, saving time while avoiding incorrect downloads or installations.

Download

Download the latest version of Driver Sentry, install, and launch the software. Click "Scan".

Once the scan is complete, identify uninstalled or outdated drivers. Locate the graphics driver in the results list and click the "Upgrade" button.

After updating, restart your computer to ensure the new driver takes effect.

2. Check if Task Manager Flickers

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open "Task Manager".

  • If Task Manager does not flicker but other windows do, the issue is likely related to certain applications or display settings.

  • If Task Manager also flickers, it is typically caused by display driver problems.

Depending on your observation, proceed with the appropriate steps below.

3. Adjust Display Settings

Press Win + I to open "Settings", then go to "System" > "Display".

Click "Display resolution" and select an appropriate resolution.

Press Win + S, search for "Command Prompt", and run it as an administrator.

Type the following command and press Enter: sfc /scannow

5. Check Hardware Connections

  • Turn off your computer and check if the monitor cable connections to the PC are secure and undamaged.

  • If using HDMI or VGA, try switching to a different port or cable.

  • Connect the monitor to another computer to verify if the issue originates from the monitor itself.

  • Open the PC case, ensure the graphics card is correctly seated in its slot, and clean any accumulated dust.

6. Update Windows System

Press Win + I to open "Settings", then select "Update & Security" > "Windows Update".

Click "Check for updates" and wait for the system to search for available updates.
